Progress is being made toward a major street project in the city of Pella. Pella Public Works Director Denny Buyert says preliminary plans for the North Main Street reconstruction project have been approved, and the city is currently waiting for environmental clearance because the area is considered a historical district. Buyert says though the process is taking a great deal of time to follow the proper procedures, there will still be work that city crews will perform this summer to prepare for the North Main Street reconstruction, which will run from Washington to Elm Street.
