In a big hole midway through the game against Luther College, the Central College baseball team staged an impressive comeback, but where unable to get ahead of the Norse, as the Dutch fell 11-8 in the opening round of the Iowa Conference Baseball Tournament yesterday. Luther slugged its way to a 9-0 advantage in the first four innings, before the Dutch began battling back in the fourth inning.

Central’s Mike Furlong and Jarred Lackey each belted two-run home runs during the comeback, as Central pulled within three runs, but ran out of time, as Luther held out for the victory. Now Central must win in an elimination game this afternoon at 4:00 p.m., as the No. 3-seeded Dutch face fourth-seeded Coe.
