With spring in high gear, the lawns of area residents are growing quickly, and the Marion County ISU Extension Office wants to remind citizens to be safe when mowing their yards. Program Director Dale Miller says children should not ride with others on a lawn mower, and encourages another adult to watch children when you are mowing. Additionally, Miller encourages walking around your yard before mowing to look for objects that could damage mower blades and be launched as projectiles out of the mower’s chute.
