A Pella man was the top overall finisher in last night’s Klompen Classic 5k road race in Pella.  23-year-old Theodorus Clark crossed the finish line in 16:40, 23 seconds in front of the next closest runner.  The top female time was a 17:53, posted by Danna Kelly of Des Moines.  

Awards were also given in a Masters Division, which was for participants 40 years of age or older.  41-year-old Daniel Austin of Boone – who was also the second overall finisher – placed first in the Men’s Masters in a time of 17:23, while 44-year-old Jennifer Smart of Pella was the Women’s Masters winner with a time of 23:05.  

Over two thousand runners and walkers took part in the 16th annual running of the Klompen Classic.
