A retired teacher from Antioch, California is walking from Olympia, Washington to West Palm Beach, Florida for Locks of Love.  Dan Lyons arrived in Pleasantville Monday, where he stayed with the Golay family, and is passing through Knoxville today, where he will be staying at the Red Carpet, courtesy of the motel.  Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 21 in the United States and Canada who are suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.  Lyons is doing this cross country walk for the group because they provided a hairpiece for his daughter before she lost her life to cancer at age 17. He doesn’t accept donations for the group–he encourages people instead  to donate through the website http://locksoflove.org.  Lyons will be traveling G40 to Highway 14 south to Knoxville Tuesday, and then down Highway 5 to Attica and Lovilla for the next couple of days.  If anyone is interested in providing accommodations for Lyons in southern Marion County Wednesday evening, they can call 641-204-9122.
