The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is using money acquired from the forfeited funds account to build a new storage facility. Sheriff Ron Goemaat tells KNIA/KRLS the pole shed, located adjacent to the Law Enforcement Center, will be used to store various equipment, as well as seized items that are evidence in open criminal cases. Goemaat says the Sheriff’s Office has been accumulating forfeited funds, primarily from drug cases, over the last several years and will be able to cover the cost of the shed with that money. The building itself is just under $23,000 and Goemaat says they have yet to get bids for the concrete flooring and electricity in the building.
