May 16-22nd 2010 is recognized as National Public Works Week and is a celebration of the tens of thousands of men and women in North America who provide and maintain the infrastructure and services collectively known as public works. At the May 3rd Knoxville City Council meeting, Mayor Don Zoutte signed a proclamation honoring the week and those who work in various systems in Knoxville such as water, sewers, streets, parks, cemeteries and public buildings. Zoutte calls on all citizens in Knoxville to acquaint themselves with the issues involved in providing our public works and the contributions they make each day for our health, safety, comfort and quality of life.
