Pella finished runner-up to Albia in the Pella Quad boy golf meet yesterday as the Little Dutch scored a 167 to Albia’s 162. Knoxville finished third with a round of 180 and Chariton was fourth. Pella’s Ben Fessler was medalist with a 38, Blake McWilliams lead Knoxville with a 40. Coach Tony Rozenboom says right now most of the guys are working on their short game. Rozenboom adds it is difficult to master especially at different courses. Other scores in the top four for Pella included Andy Vanderbroek with a 42, and Ryan Van Norden and Lucas Boyd each shot a 44. Pella is right back in action today at the Ballard Invitational where the Little Dutch will face their toughest competition of the season. Including top ranked defending state champion Ballard, Decorah, Nevada, Grinnell, Clear Lake, as well as two teams from Minnesota and one from Missouri. The tournament is played at the Harvester Course which is the host course for the state meet. Meanwhile, Knoxville will be off until Monday when the Panthers with the rest of the Little Hawkeye Conference hold the L-H-C Meet at South Tama.
