In their final tune up before today’s Sectional meet, the Pella boys golf team continued their recent success winning their final conference triangular over Oskaloosa and Norwalk with a 155, Oskaloosa was second with a 162 and Norwalk shot a 163. With the win, Pella also wins the LHC regular season dual meet title.

Pella’s top four golfers were only separated by two strokes as Ben Fessler and Andy Vanderbroek tied for runner up medalist honors , each with a 38, Lucas Boyd shot a 39, and Conner Kelderman shot a 40. Pella is playing their best golf of the season at the right time winning the LHC Tournament and Chariton Invitational last week in addition to the triangular yesterday. Coach Gifford Graham says that will need to continue today if they hope to finish in the top two and advance to the District Meet. Three time defending state champion Ballard is among the teams competing at the sectional today and is the overwhelming favorite to win so Graham says their goal is to snag second place:

Today’s Sectional meet starts at 9am and will be played at Willow Creek in West Des Moines. In addition to Pella, Knoxville and Ballard, other teams competing include Carlisle, Norwalk, Saydel, Bondurant Farrar and Chariton. The top two teams and top four individuals will advance to the District Meet.
