It’s not often that you expect a “game-winning” goal to come in the first eight minutes of a soccer match, but that’s exactly what happened yesterday for the Pella boys soccer team, as they downed Grinnell 1-0.

The Little Dutch started strong from the outset, and a long cross from Deckar Lynch near Grinnell’s goal was headed in by Grant Barrick to give Pella the only score it would need for the win. From that point out, the two teams matched each other’s intensity, and the Tigers’ keeper prevented the few good looks that the Little Dutch had on goal from getting in the net.

With yesterday’s victory at Grinnell, the Pella boys are now 9-4 overall and 5-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. The Little Dutch host Pella Christian this evening at the High School Athletic Complex.
