While this year’s Tulip Time festival in Pella provides guests with fourteen-plus hours of family entertainment for three consecutive days, it also provides an economic bonanza for local retailers and merchants. Karen Eischen, Executive Director of the Pella Chamber of Commerce says local business owners have high expectations for this year’s event.

“They’re [business owners] all gearing up for a wonderful event,” said Eischen. “It is the 75th, so we’re anticipating very large crowds. We have the Guinness Book of World Records for most people dancing in wooden shoes at one time – that’s going to be a huge draw on Saturday. There’s lots of dancers signed up, but not only that – we’re going to have a lot of people in town just to see what it’s all about.”

Eischen adds that the Tulip Time season got a jump start about three weeks ago when the tulips began blooming.
