Pella Christian High School Earns Special Accreditation

Parents and Administrators at Pella Christian High School are feeling victorious following the recent announcement that the school has been granted special accreditation by the Iowa Department of Education. Pella Christian High School Principal Darryl De Ruiter says the school already fell under general accreditation – which all non-public schools must have – but says the special accreditation will allow the school to be more flexible and creative with its curriculum.

“Special accreditation gives these schools a little bit more autonomy and flexibility to really be innovative and to customize education for each individual student,” says De Ruiter. “For those reasons, we’re pretty excited about it. We think it’s what’s best for our school and our kids at this time.”

Since 1967, only nine schools in the state have met the high standards of academic success to qualify for special accreditation.
