Pella also won the LHC Girls Track and Field championship in Newton last night scoring 153 points compared to second place Grinnell’s 126, Knoxville was sixth with 39 points and Pella Christian finished in seventh with 31 points.
Pella got wins from Nadine Van Zomerein in the 200 and 400, Marielle Gaiser in the 100 meter dash and 400 hurdles, as well as their shuttle hurdle, distance medley, 4×200, 4×400 and sprint medley relay teams.
Pella Christian got a win from Sarah Faber in the long , Jasmin Schelhaas was second in the 400. Knoxville was led by Katie Ayers who finished second in both the shotput and discus. All three teams are off until Friday when they’ll compete in Regional Meets. Pella and Knoxville head to a Class 3A Regional at South Tama while Pella Christian heads to Ogden for a Class 2A Regional. The top two finishers in each event will automatically qualify for the state meet. plus the next eight best times in each event from the season. The Co-ed State Track and Field Meet will be May 20-22 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
