The Pella and Pella Christian girls tennis teams met on the Lady Eagles’ home courts yesterday for some of the most competitive tennis of the season, as the Lady Dutch came away with a hard-fought 6-5 win to keep their undefeated season intact. Five matches went into third-set tiebreakers, including four of the five doubles matches, with Pella Christian holding a 3-2 advantage in the extra set.

The closest contest of the evening may have been at No. 1 doubles, as Pella Christian’s duo of Aubree Else and Megan Van Kooten battled back from a 7-5 loss in the opening set, to take the second set 3-6 from Pella’s Nicole Oliver and Marah Bossard. The third set tiebreaker was as close as they get, with Else and Van Kooten gritting out a narrow 11-9 win.

The Pella Christian girls continue competition today at Newton, while the Lady Dutch are at Caldwell Park today to host Grinnell.
