At the center of Pella’s 75th Annual Tulip Time festival is the tradition and history of Pella and its annual spring event, and that history is on display in a special capacity this weekend at the Pella Historical Village. As part of Tulip Time, the village will not only be open for its regular tours, but will also include several additional characters.

“We have quite a few crafters that come in to help us,” says Patsy Sadler, Director of the Pella Historical Village. “The wooden shoe-makers are here, and then we have Randy Wineland – who is such a craftsman. He makes yolks, he does wooden shoes; he does it all. and he’s such a good story-teller. Of course the steam engine is running, we have the blacksmith in, and then the Beason-Blommers mill grinds corn.”

Other activity in the village includes workers in the bakery, quilters, and the gift shop, among others. Tours of the Pella Historical Village and Vermeer Windmill run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
