A traffic stop last Thursday in Prairie City resulted in the arrest of a Pella man on multiple charges. According to the Prairie City Police Department, 39-year-old Mark Christopher Spierenburg was stopped at 1:16 a.m. Thursday, at which time officers determined he was intoxicated. They also found that Spierenburg had a machete with a blade exceeding 8 inches in length between the seat of his vehicle and had an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. He was charged with Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, 1st Offense Operating While Intoxicated, Open Container and Driving without a Valid Driver’s License and placed in the Jasper County Jail.
