Pella’s Gerber/Weseman Go 2-1 on Day One of Class 1A State Doubles Tournament

Pella’s top doubles team Jared Gerber and Max Weseman went 2-1 during day one of the Class 1A Boys State Doubles Tennis Tournament at Byrnes Park in Waterloo yesterday.

The pair began the day with a 6-2, 6-3 win over a team from Clarke, Osceola, then were defeated by the top seeded team from Boone 6-1 and 6-0 dropping them into the consolation bracket where they defeated a team from Saydel 6-0, 6-3 to advance to day two action today.

The duo will now face a team from Cherokee, Washington in the consolation semifinals this morning. With a win, they will advance to the 5th place match while a loss will put them in the seventh place match in Class 1A. Play begins at 9:30am today at Byrnes Park Tennis Center in Waterloo
