Andrew Townsend, a senior on the Central College men’s golf team, has been named to the Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar team for the second straight year. He was also named to the Division III Ping All-Central Region team by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Townsend was Central’s top finisher at the NCAA Division III Championships, shooting a 300 over the 4-day, 72-hole tournament and leading the Dutch to a tie for 17th place. He graduated this past weekend with a degree in Accounting, and carried a 3.52 cumulative grade point average.
Townsend is the 37th member of the Central men’s golf team since 1984 to have received All-America Scholar honors, which is the highest total of any Iowa school.
