Sprint Car Driver Jesse Hockett lost his life yesterday afternoon results of injuries suffered in an accident in his race shop in Warsaw, Missouri. According to Lonnie Wheatley from the American Sprint Car Series, which is a 360 sprint car series that Hockett regularly raced in, Hockett was electrocuted while preparing his trailer for a three-day race weekend. The events he was scheduled to race at were…the USAC event in Terre Haute, Indiana tonight, weekly action in Sedalia, Missouri tomorrow, and the A-S-C-S series stop in Jetmore, Kansas Saturday and Sunday. Hockett was a contender for the non wing Lucas Oil Sprint Bandits title this season as he trailed Shane Stewart by just three points heading into this weekend. Hockett just recently raced in Knoxville in the 360 division during a weekly show two weeks ago, and is coming off the most successful weekend of his career this past weekend with three wins in three nights at Sedalia, Lake Ozark and Double X. He also won last year’s Ultimate Challenge Non Winged race at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa . Jesse Hockett was 26 years old and was just recently married to his wife Tina Marie.
