Marion County first responders, in conjunction with 71st Civil Support Team from Des Moines and Camp Dodge, will be trained on how to deal with weapons of mass destruction this fall. According to Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson, they are currently in the early development stages of putting together a 3-day training exercise led by the Civil Support Readiness Group out of San Antonio, Texas. Each day will be a different scenario that tests the readiness and preparedness of our local first responders when it comes to dealing with weapons of mass destruction. The exercises are tentatively scheduled to take place in October.
