The Pella girls soccer team will look to bounce back from some difficult non-conference losses to end the regular season, when they open Regional tournament play this afternoon against Oskaloosa. The Lady Dutch claimed the first meeting with the Indians, back on April 15th, in a somewhat underwhelming 5-1 victory.

Pella girls Head Coach Sam Mate-Kodjo says he is preparing his squad for the postseason by focusing on playing their style of soccer well and not concerning themselves too much with what their opponents may do.

“I normally just say, if we do what we’re doing, and we do what we know how to do well, we ought to be able to do well against any team,” said Mate-Kodjo. “[If we] play good defense and get good transitions from the midfield on to the offensive end, then we should be able to do well.”

Pella’s Regional Quarterfinal against Oskaloosa begins at 6:00 p.m. tonight at the Gene Van Wyk Soccer Complex in Pella.
