The Knoxville City Council accepted bids and awarded a contract for the Neighborhood Stabilization Program Asbestos Removal Project at their meeting this week. The city received three bids for the inspection of the properties and only one bidder submitted a bid for the actual abatement of the asbestos. Zoning Administrator Cindy Glick sent a recommendation to the council to award the inspection and abatement contract to August Enterprises of Jefferson, Iowa for an amount of $49,350. Next, the council will hold a special meeting at 5:30pm Monday to accept bids and award a contract for the actual demolition of the buildings, those bids are due Friday afternoon.
