The Knoxville City Council accepted bids and awarded a contract for the 2010-2011 Sewer Cleaning and Televising Project at their meeting Monday. Public Works Director Jeff May sent a recommendation to the council to accept the lowest of the 5 bids received for $228,651.20 from Central Iowa Televising of Story City, IA. The bid is more than $76,000 below the engineer’s estimate cost of $305,000. Funds for the project will come from the Sewer Enterprise Fund where money is contributed annually by the city for this purpose. By the time the project is completed this fund will have more than $282,000 in it, which will more than cover the cost of the 10 year project.
