A local author has been named as an award finalist by the Midwest Independent Publishers Association. Sheryl Ellinwood has been nominated for her book Empowered: A Woman to Woman Guide to Preventing and Surviving Breast Cancer.
Ellinwood wrote the book after she, herself was diagnosed with breast cancer, and her writing stresses the importance of prevention, including the risks and benefits of food choices and how to avoid cancer-causing toxins.
