Pella native and NBA player Kyle Korver made a return to his hometown last week in support of a unique fundraiser organized by a local youth. Through the sale of his own line of t-shirts that support the Kyle Korver Foundation, Korver was helping raise money for an orphanage in Sierra Leone – a cause that was chosen by 11-year-old Kobe Diers of Pella. Diers raised nearly $2,500 by shooting three-point baskets to purchase basketball hoops at the orphanage, and with Korver’s help, a new objective was set to also build more shelter for the orphans.
