Creighton basketball star and current NBA player Kyle Korver is planning a return trip to his hometown of Pella. Korver is making the visit in support of 11-year-old Kobe Diers of Pella, who organized a fundraiser to buy basketball hoops for an orphanage in Sierra Leone. Kobe got the idea with some help from his mother, who had been on a mission trip to the orphanage. By gathering small pledges for every three-point basket he made in the month of April, Diers passed his goal of raising $1,000, and collected $1,800 – enough money to buy two new units.

Korver is hoping to help support Diers’s cause and buy more basketball hoops through the Kyle Korver Foundation. He will be raising money for the orphanage through the sales of his “SEER” clothing line t-shirts and will be at the Sports Page Sporting Goods store in Pella with his brother Klayton on Tuesday, June 8th.
