Corn and soybeans in the Marion County area are progressing well at this point in the season, but after more rain this past weekend, the crops could use a little drier weather. Jay Van Woerkom, Agronomy Sales Manager at Two Rivers Cooperative in Pella says the moisture level in the soil is more than sufficient to last the crops well into the growing season, but says the key now will be for drier and warmer weather to keep the crops growing. Still, Van Woerkom adds that most farmers are reporting crops in good condition and are expecting strong yields this fall.
