The Pella softball team went 3-0 at the Martensdale St. Mary’s tournament on Saturday.

The Lady Dutch began the day beating the host school Martensdale St. Mary’s 4-3 in eight innings. Mandy Demeulenaere got the win pitching all eight innings allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out nine. Allie Demeulenaere knocked in the game winning RBI in the eighth inning.

In the second game Pella defeated Earlham 8-6. Freshman pitcher Bri Arkema got the win allowing seven hits while recording 10 strikeouts and walking five.

The final game of the day provided the most excitement as Pella came from behind to beat Melcher Dallas 9-7 after trailing 7-0 in the fifth inning. Mandy Demeulenaere started the game and was relieved by Arkema in the fifth inning who eventually got the win.

The Lady Dutch improved to 9-5 overall and are 4-2 in LHC play. They return to LHC play at Oskaloosa tonight. Pella just beat the Indians 6-3 last Tuesday and hopes to do the same again tonight. Coach Krista Demeulenaere says the team is really focused and producing in all areas.
