Marion County was under a severe thunderstorm warning this morning from just after 10:00 until 11:15 this morning.  The storm brought high winds, rain, thunder and lightning to the area.  There were reports of pea sized hail in the western portion of the county on the leading edge of the storm along with wind gusts up to 46 miles per hour and 0.42” of rain.  In addition, according to Pleasantville Fire Chief PJ Gasparovich, a tree fell over in Pleasantville this morning causing a down power line. Gasparovich says he’s unsure if it was caused by the high winds or lightning. As of 11:50am MidAmerican Energy reports there are 50 customers in the county without power. Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson says no other damage has been reported.

Marion County remains under a severe thunderstorm watch until 4pm this evening and there is a strong possibility of storms redeveloping as the day continues.
