The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in special session this morning where they discussed plans for the Public Health building remodel project. Tim Teig from Snyder and associates was on hand to discuss the preliminary plans and schedule for the project. Board Chair Howard Pothoven says he thinks the proposed schedule for the month of June is rather “front loaded” and is not sure everything will get done as quickly as the it states.

Though an updated estimate on the cost of the project was not available at this morning’s meeting, Teig states he will have one at the next meeting and believes there is still a good bid climate. He says this is a good project that he expects many companies will want to work on considering it is a remodel of a current structure that is all under a solid roof and there should not be many weather delays.

Final plans and specifications should be completed by and submitted to the supervisors for approval by the July 12th meeting, at which time they will set a bid deadline and public hearing date. Teig states he hopes the project will be completed by the Christmas holiday.
