A burglary and theft of a vehicle a week ago at the Pella Municipal Airport bears a resemblance to a series of similar events across the nation that are being credited to a notorious fugitive. On Tuesday, authorities in Ottumwa recovered a van that had been stolen from Classic Aviation in Pella, a day after Pella Police had located an SUV stolen from the airport in Norfolk, Nebraska.

A link between the two incidents has not been confirmed, but they have drawn comparison to similar crimes allegedly committed by 19-year-old Colton Harris-Moore – who has earned the moniker the “Barefoot Bandit”.

According to the Pella Police Department, though there are similarities between the incident that took place at the Pella airport and others that have been attributed to Harris-Moore, there is no proof linking him to the crime, and he has not been identified as a suspect in the case, which remains under investigation.
