Waters Inching Higher at Lake Red Rock

The water at Lake Red Rock is slowly creeping toward record levels, following continued heavy rains in South Central Iowa. As of 5:00 a.m. Monday morning, the lake had risen over half-a-foot, pushing the lake’s depth to 774.69 feet – over 32 feet above normal. Lake Red Rock is predicted to rise over another six inches Monday.
Water is flowing into the reservoir at a rate of 42,000 cubic feet per second, while the dam is releasing water at a rate of 27,000 cubic feet per second. The record depth for Lake Red Rock came in July of 1993, when the waters crested at 782.67 feet.
