A “soft” opening of Knoxville’s newest art gallery will be held this week. The main level of Art 101, which includes the gallery and open studio, will open up to the public Friday, with a grand opening of the entire facility in coming weeks. Frank Mathias who co-founded the gallery with his brother Felix, tells KNIA/KRLS news the grand opening of all three floors of Art 101 will likely happen toward the end of the month but they were eager to open the doors and show off what they’ve been working on. He says there will be a variety of unique local art on display in the gallery including photography, paintings and pottery. Frank encourages all art enthusiasts to stop by and check out the project and hopes area residents enjoy the latest artistic addition to Knoxville. Art 101 is located at 109 South 4th Street in Knoxville and the main floor will be open as of from noon until 8pm Friday and Saturday.
The Mathias brothers are still looking for artists who would like to showcase and sell some of their work in the open gallery. Those who are interested in submitting their work can view the submission guidelines here.
