Recent rains and high water levels have caused damage to many homes in the area and the Marion County Department of Environmental Health has put together tips on how to handle flooded basements and water damaged items.  Environmental Health Director Cory Frank stresses the importance of the motto “when it doubt, throw it out” he says if you’re not sure if something is clean or safe get rid of it.  Frank says all large porous items must be discarded and non-porous items must be cleaned thoroughly with a mild household detergent solution or diluted bleach solution.

Several tip flood related tip sheets can be found on the Marion County Department of Environmental Health website by clicking here.
