Area residents who have recently experienced flood damage can still apply for the State Individual Assistance Grant Program, after Governor Chet Culver extended the disaster proclamation. The deadline has been extended 30 days and applications are now due to the Department of Human Services by August 21st. The program provides up to $5,000 in reimbursements for damages for those who qualify. Marion County is one of 31 counties in the state that have added to the disaster proclamation this summer after many days of heavy rain and severe weather.

For more information on the program visit www.dhs.state.ia.us and click on Storm Help or call the toll-free line at (866) 434-4692. In addition, those who believe they qualify need to call the Emergency Management Office at 641-828-2256 with their name, address, type of damage and the date it occurred as soon as possible.
