Residents who have experienced flood damage in the basements of their home need to be especially careful around their electronics and appliances. Marion County Environmental Health Director Cory Frank recommends that flood victims contact a service provider or electrician if there has been any water on or near their electrical appliances. Frank says many appliances have their electrical components on the bottom and while many people may think it’s not a big deal and there has not been damage, the last thing you want to do is start a fire in your home because of unknown water damage. He says appliances are replaceable and it’s better to be safe than sorry.
