The Knoxville Chamber of Commerce is looking for volunteers to help clean up the downtown area this weekend. The goal is to spruce things up before visitors from around the world come to the area next month for the 50th anniversary of the Knoxville Nationals. Volunteers will be supplied with gloves, trash bags and weed killer and will be focusing on sidewalks, streets and alleys in the downtown area, followed by a few places on the main highways if time allows.

Chamber Board of Directors member Todd Chambers says it’s important for the people of Knoxville to take pride in our community, and do what we can to provide an inviting community and downtown area for our guests to enjoy. He says the chamber is expecting many visitors next month and they want to show off what a great community we have here in Knoxville.

The clean-up will take place Saturday morning from 8-11am and any amount of help would be greatly appreciated. The group will meet in Dr. Larry Formanek’s parking lot on the corner of First and Main streets.
