The community of Leighton will get a head start on the holiday weekend with their Independence Day celebration Friday evening. A supper hosted by the Leighton Lions will begin the evening, running from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Leighton Community Center, and Leighton’s Fourth of July parade begins at 7:30 p.m.; which will be followed by a Tractor Rodeo on Otley Street. Several games will be set up in the parking lot near the ball park and will run from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m., with fireworks closing out the celebration in Leighton at 10:00 p.m.
