Lieutenant Governor Patty Judge met with city officials and community members Thursday afternoon to announce the Knoxville’s $980,000 Small Communities Water Infrastructure, I-JOBS award. Judge congratulated the city for being selected to receive the funds, she says it was a competitive process and not all of the cities who applied received funding. Judge said that rural communities need a solid backbone to be able to survive and she feels it’s important for the state to invest now in order for these smaller towns to continue to be successful in the future. The $980,000 will cover 40% of the expenses of a new water detention basin at the wastewater treatment plant.
