The drivers and occupants of a pair of vehicles involved in a collision east of Pella Friday afternoon were able to come away from the accident with only a few minor injuries. Shortly after 3:00 p.m., a minivan travelling eastbound on Old Highway 163 entered the path of a southbound car on Highway 102 on the Marion/Mahaska County Line. Unable to stop in time, the southbound vehicle struck the driver side of the van, causing it to spin onto the shoulder.

Along with the driver, the minivan was carrying three children between the ages of five and three months. All three of the children were properly restrained in safety seats and only one child complained of any pain. The Pella Police Department, Pella Ambulance and Marion County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.
