Panthers Baseball Team Advances to Second Round of the State Tournament

The Knoxville High School baseball team’s goal of becoming state champions is still alive after their win against Independence this afternoon. The Panthers beat the Independence Mustangs 5-3 in the opening round of the state tournament and are now 25-9 on the season. Knoxville will face either fourth seed Charles City or fifth seed Storm Lake in round two Friday at noon at Principal Park in Des Moines. Tune into the daily sports page during the Marion County Morning Magazine at 7:30 Wednesday for a full recap of the game.
