While most softball teams this time of year are saying goodbye to seniors and figuring out who will fill what holes left by graduation for next season, that’s one area the Pella softball team doesn’t have to think much about. The Lady Dutch lose just one senior from this year’s team, catcher Whitney Pavlat. Pavlat was a five year starter for Pella behind the plate and was one of the keys to building the recent success of Pella softball. This season, Pavlat batted .267 and was the team co-leader long with Mackenzie Anthony with 18 RBI, she also smashed two homeruns and four doubles on the season and gunned down several runners on the basepads. Coach Krista Demeulenaere says Pavlat was a great team player and they’ll miss her leadership behind the plate as well as off the field. The upside is, everybody else returns next season for the co-LHC champs.
