Any coach will tell you that success at the high school level starts with strong youth programs where the kids are exposed to the different sports and learn the basics at an early age to build their interest. The City of Pella is currently accepting registrations for the Pella Youth Soccer and Flag Football programs for the upcoming fall. Brenda Ross is with the Pella Recreation Department and says the participants always have fun and get plenty of chances to participate while learning the sport.
Flag Football is open to all kids age kindergarden through eighth grade while Youth Soccer is open to kids in grades three through six. Ross says the registration deadline for both programs is July 9th. The cost is $40 if you live within the city limits and $48 if you’re outside the city limits. There will be an additional $25 charge for late registrations. To register stop by the Pella Recreation office and ask for Brenda or go to www.cityofpella.com and print off a registration form and mail it to the Recreation office. Ross says they are also in need of coaches for these fall programs as well as winter basketball. To volunteer contact Brenda at the Recreation Department
