A Knoxville man who was arrested in April on several charges related to motor vehicle break-ins is now in federal custody. Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada tells KNIA/KRLS news the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the United States Marshall’s office took 25 year-old Brady Austin Rogers into their custody this morning and are charging him with possession of a firearm by a felon, failure to register as a sex offender and possession of a stolen firearm by a felon.

In late April, during a search of Roger’s apartment Knoxville Police officers found several items that had previously been reported stolen; including a rifle, computer parts, iPods, numerous cameras, tools and a key ring to an apartment complex. Rogers was arrested on charges of 2nd degree theft, interference with official acts, possession of a firearm by a felon and failure to register as a sex offender. Upon arrival at the Marion County jail officials discovered Rogers was wanted in Arkansas for parole violations and in Alabama for burglary

Losada says the Knoxville Police Department has been working with federal authorities on Roger’s case for several weeks. He says he expects that the local charges will dismissed and Rogers will deal with the charges on a federal level. A jury trial has been set for Monday August 30th at 9am in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa in Des Moines.
