According to Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada the pool of candidates for the officer position that will open up this fall is looking good. Losada says he has received more than 50 requests for applications thus far and there are interested candidates from 10 different states. Typically, Losada says about one half of the applications are returned but that should still leave a large number of candidates. After the Knoxville Nationals the police department will begin the interview and testing process followed by additional tests and screening from the Civil Service board. The department is accepting applications until July 23rd as Sergeant Alvin Olivier will be retiring on August 31st after more than 32 years of service.
