Volunteers are needed to help promote Marion County at the Iowa State Fair. The Marion County Development Commission (MCDC) will have a booth at the Varied Industries Building at the fair from August 12-22 and those who are willing to help get the word out about the area will receive a complimentary admission ticket. MCDC Executive Director Carla Eysink says it takes nearly 100 volunteers, working 3 hours each, to fill the entire schedule. There are 4 shifts available and two adult volunteers are needed for each shift. Those who are interested in promoting Marion County to potential tourists should send their name and choice of date and shift to ceysink@co.marion.ia.us. Volunteers must be signed up by the end of the month.
