The Central College volleyball team will be a much more experienced squad in 2010 and hopes that experience will help return them to a contender in the Iowa Conference.

The Dutch, who graduated two starters from a very young team that finished 22-12 overall and 4-4 in the Iowa Conference a year ago, return 13 letterwinners, including five starters to this years team. Amongst those returning are Pella High graduates Haley Brillhart and Chelsea Greiger. Grieger was an all conference selection last season as libero and is one of three returning defensive specialists while Brillhart will play a key role as a middle hitter for coach Kent Clayberg’s squad.

Central, who has won 17 Iowa Conference volleyball titles, but none since 2007, has been picked to finish fifth in the Iowa Conference pre season poll this year but Clayberg hopes to prove the poll wrong and thinks they have the ability to be much more competitive in 2010. Central opens their season Wednesday at home hosting Grinnell College.
