Any coach will tell you that to be competitive at the high school level of athletics you must have athletes that are willing to put time in during the offseason to improve themselves and the program. Pella football coach Jay Mckinstrey says he has been very impressed with what he has seen from his kids over the summer. He says it’s been one of the best summer’s he has seen with 75-80 kids turning out daily for workouts and lifting which will pay off for them at all levels freshman through varsity. He says when kids are willing to give that kind of commitment, giving up time in the summer and getting up early to work on building strength, conditioning, speed and agility that leads to success on the field during the season. He says there is a lot of excitement surrounding Pella football coming into this season and the first couple days of team camp have gone very well this week.
