The Old Settlers Celebration continues Saturday in Monroe. Morning highlights of the 114th annual celebration include registrations for several athletic competitions, a tractor show beginning at 8:00 a.m. and a “Micro-Marathon” run and walk that also starts at 8:00. Afternoon activities include a car show, cribbage tournament at 1:00 p.m. at Monroe State Bank and a watermelon feed from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

There are also a number of events running all day, including arts and crafts displays, BINGO, rides and concessions. The evening events include the parade at 7:00 p.m. and the concert by Elton John impersonator Lee Alverson, which will begin at 8:15 p.m. Everyone attending is encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. Events for the Old Settlers Celebration take place in or near the park on the square in Monroe.
