Iowa’s annual sales tax holiday is this coming weekend. The yearly opportunity occurs on the first Friday and Saturday of August and exempts all clothing and shoes costing less than $100 from all sales tax, including local option sales taxes.

Mike Schuring, owner of Franklin Street Clothing in Pella, says the exemption is often an addition to many retail stores offering “Back to School” savings, so it creates a great opportunity for shoppers to save money. The state’s sales tax holiday begins Friday morning and ends at midnight on Saturday.
